Zico Chain

Type: SINGLE

The ‘Zico Chain’ are three guys in their early twenties who are sick of emo. It’s quite a profound statement to make. It’s fair enough, I suppose, emo and indie are merging into one vile girl-pant wearing genre of drivel. But that’s not to say that the Zico boys are doing anything too spectacularly enthralling either.

Where Would You Rather Be’ is a loud, screaming ode to five years ago. Had Zico Chain existed in the nu-metal era circa 2000, this track would have gained a lot of fans very quickly. The track is reminiscent of Disturbed and even Marilyn Manson. Its brooding hooks are laden down with gritty vocals which, although complimentary don’t seem to be able to make their mind up. American? English? Kurt Cobain anyone?

But then again… I’m cynical. Despite this track being a little bit of a mish-mash in my mind, it’s British. It’s heavy, it’s rocking, and it’s British, and that’s got to count for something. The Zico lads don’t claim to be re-inventing the wheel, but at the same time they are giving an old one a pretty damn good spin. What they lack in identity, they make up in all out balls rock; and there’s a million and one reasons why that’s a good thing.

Catch Zico Chain out on a ridiculously large UK tour throughout May AND opening the main stage at Download Festival!. Check their official website for more details!
