The King Blues – Come Fi Di Youth

[date]

Type: Track

Ah, The King Blues. Being a North Londoner myself, these guys have been on my radar for awhile now. From playing impromptu sets at squats and large festivals a like, to all nearly being arrested for causing a public disturbance by playing an illegal show at a protest in London’s financial district. It’s what punk rocks about really, isn’t it?

Come Fi Di Youth is a slow, angry ska-punk track much in the vein of The Clash and The Slackers. It’s opinionated, it’s angst ridden, it’s political and it’s maybe just what we, and indeed the whole music industry needs.

Unafraid of the mainstream backlash such tendencies attract, they are committed to politics and resistance culture. Not only that, but they are vocal supporters of anti-racism. Most importantly, they refuse to rigidly define their politics. Indeed, they themselves say…

We see a lot of dividing and conquering going on in society and that’s upsetting to us. We’re freedom fighters and activist, we want to cross all divisions.

Major label bickering aside; this is a band true to their cause, ready to say something and actually doing something worth while. Stand up, listen, and do as they say. Be Counted.
