The Almost – Say This Sooner

[date]

Type: Track

As if touring the globe with Underoath wasn’t enough on his plate, Aaron Gillespie, drummer with the aforementioned has made his way to the front of the stage with his new rock-based project: The Almost.

For the first time, indie label Tooth & Nail are hooking up with a major – Virgin, for a joint release, and The Almost are the guinea pig for this guaranteed success of an experiment, with their forthcoming album Southern Weather dropping April 3rd. Taken from this is Say This Sooner the bands debut single!

Drawing on influences as varied as Oasis and Thursday, Southern Weather features surprising guest spots from Sunny Day Real Estate’s, Jeremy Enigk and The Starting Line’s Kenny Vasoli. With this departure from Underoath’s harder punk sound The Almost is sure to appeal to a much wider audience, and Say This Sooner is a perfect example of why! Upbeat and fun, this “emo/screamo” track is reminiscent of Finch, Thursday and even My Chemical Romance and will surely draw fans from across the alt.rock board!

While it is not uncommon for musicians to perform more than one type of music or play in multiple bands, rarely do they dabble in the tech world so it was a surprise when Aaron announced an exclusive sponsorship with the iScape – a cheeky all-encompassing handheld electronic. The iScape combines a mobile phone, a 10 pixel digital camera, HDV camcorder, an audio/video entertainment system, a personal computer, and a groundbreaking technology called the ‘Scape button’ into one handy gadget. More information on this mythical device is available here!(and yes… this is a joke before you get excited!)

Say This Sooner is a great track, and although MTV2 premiered the video, they don’t have it on demand like we do. So catch it below!

The Almost will be touring with Say Anything and Saves the Day at the beginning of April and then later this summer on Warped Tour ’07.
